Description
It was inevitable that these two planets would collide. With orbital paths so similar, it was only a matter of time before the larger of the planets tore the smaller from its stellar course, signaling their mutual demise. This one took fifteen hours or so in photoshop. It was lots of fun to do!

Wow, this is fantastic work! Great concept and it is obvious you but a lot of work into this.
The texture of the planet surface is amazingly detailed.
My only gripes would be that the clouds in the top left corner look a little flat in comparison to the detail of the planet surface. I think also that the shockwaves look a little too smooth and look a little more "painted" or cartoony look than the rest of the pretty much photorealistic piece. Do you know what I mean?
These are just minor details though. Overall I think this is a fantastic piece of work and better than the average space scene.
Very well done!

However the the clouds dont seem to fit into the composition, they dont have the same amount of detail and they look flat. Also, the smaller moon is too close to the planet, there is something called the "Roche's sphere" which means that if a moon is too close to the planet, it will be ripped apart by gravitational forces.
Finally, i would add some cracks on the surface of the planet too.
The star field is well done,

Also the impact is a bit too round for my liking, it looks awesome, but not realistic in my eyes. Should've been a bit more blurred/dusty.
But, like I said, I love this part, the debris looks awesome, the planet textures are incredible, and your stars look really nice
